The Emerson School Receives National Positive Discipline Demonstration School Recognition!
We are very happy to announce that The Positive Discipline Association (www.positivediscipline.com), has awarded The Emerson School with recognition as a Positive Discipline in the Classroom Demonstration School, one of only 3 in the nation. The award ceremony will be held on August 28th, 2008.
The Emerson School and was founded on the principles of Positive Discipline. Children learn responsibility, problem solving skills, accountability and collaboration. They are an integral part of their own learning, meeting regularly to plan and to solve problems in an empowering atmosphere of encouragement. To read more, please click here.

March 13th, 2006. The Emerson School is
proud to announce that on March 13, 2006, our charter contract with
the Portland Public School District has been unanimously renewed
for another three years. We are very excited to have this opportunity
to continue to offer our innovative program to the students of the
PPS District.
April
7th, 2006. The Emerson School’s annual “Run
for the Arts” event is coming up on Friday, April 7th. This
fun-filled event helps us raise nearly $7000 last year to support
our arts programming at the school. This year, we hope to raise
even more! If you have questions, would like more information about

June 9th, 2004. Emerson participated in the Rose Festival
Kid's Parade.
February 4th, 2004: Emerson Students Chosen to Participate
in the 2004 Rose Festival Kids Program
This summer, Emerson students will have the opportunity to participate
in the Rose Festival Kid's Parade. Follow this

November 14th, 2003: Emerson highlighted in Tribune Article
The Emerson School has received various press during our first
year of operations. Visit the Portland

September 8th, 2003: Emerson Opens
The Emerson School is pleased to announce our opening day, September
8th, 2003. The first day of school was held in our location at 105
NW Park. We are looking forward to a fantastic 2003-2004 school
year.
Feb 10th, 2003: Portland Public School Board unanimously
approves Emerson charter
At their February 10th meeting, the members of the Portland Public
School Board unanimously approved The Emerson School's charter application,
stating that it was "...the strongest proposal the board has
seen since Oregon's charter law passed in 1999." With this
approval, The Emerson School becomes the third charter school in
